Rosewood contains the highest concentration of linalool, around 80%. Linalool is a recognized calming agent and an anxiolytic: it inhibits the binding of glutamate in the cerebral cortex, inhibits the release of acetylcholine, and reduces the opening time of ion channels at the neuromuscular junction. Used in diffusion and topical application.
