Rosemary contains as its main active ingredient 1,8 cineole, which is known to be expectorant and mucolytic. It helps to thin mucus and facilitate its expulsion through the respiratory tract. It also contains about 15% alpha-pinene which, in combination with 1,8 cineole, becomes a powerful bactericide.
Thanks to the camphor and camphene it contains, this essential oil is also distinguished in the care of rheumatism and tendinitis.
Topical use on the back, chest, and soles of the feet, inhalation, and diffusion are the best ways to use this oil.
